This weekly gathering highlights the voices of local authors, community leaders, and inspiring storytellers, creating a powerful space where children and literacy connect in meaningful ways.

Ashlee Cooper is the imaginative author behind the children’s book Drones, Drones, Everywhere, a playful and educational story introducing young minds to the exciting world of drone technology. With a passion for STEM and literacy, Ashlee brings her storytelling to life through engaging “Meet & Read” sessions, like the one at MSK Community Center where she inspires curiosity, creativity, and a love for reading in every child she meets.
Dr. Melody Phillips, Acting Director of Wilmington Parks & Recreation, is a passionate advocate for literacy and community engagement. At the MSK Community Center's "Meet & Read" event, Dr. Phillips brings her leadership and energy to inspire young readers and families through interactive storytelling and meaningful conversations. Her presence reflects her deep commitment to nurturing safe, vibrant spaces where learning and community spirit thrive.
Seven-year-old Avah Griffy lit up the room with confidence and joy as she read aloud to her peers at the “Meet & Read” session hosted by MSK Community Center.
